Howdy Pardner! It’s Christine here with you today, and it’s been ages since I’ve created a scene, so I thought it was high time to get to it! For this adorable western-themed card I used two digital sets that Alma created called Happy Trails and the Western set. Included are all sorts of vintage themed characters and elements to help you create a fun scene.
To start I arranged my background scene on my computer using the digi stamps to create the background of hills. After it was printed I filled in some of the lines to help create hills and then masked off the bottom. Next I used a retired TCP Cloud stencil and some Distress Oxide ink to create a beautiful blue sky with clouds at the horizon.
The I coloured in the background hills and Saguro cactus with Copics, gradiating the colours to give perspective and distance to the hills and to add pebbles and rough ground in the foreground.
I coloured the cute cowboy and campfire separately, fussy cut them out and added them to the scene, along with the ink blended sentiment.
Then I cut some strips of neutral brown cardstock, ran them through a woodgrain cover plate and swiped them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Once I cut the corners of the frame to look like a picture frame, I took a few vintage brads to add accent to the corners. What a hoot!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this old west scene!
