It's Alma, here. And today, I am bringing you Day #9 of our 12 Days of Crafting. I know you are busy this time of year, so I wanted to bring you a quick and easy craft you can do with your kids and friends and get immediate results. Inkjet Ornaments.
Yes, if you have a inkjet printer, label sheets, and wood ornaments, you can create these ornaments fast.
For the images on these ornaments, I used the png files from Big Holiday Words, Snowy Sayings, Wonky Ornament Tags, Ho Ho Ho, Winter Elements, and the Old Deer Cutable. But you can use .png or .svgs, as well.
Simply open the color .pngs in Silhouette Studio, Inkscape or whatever program you use to print those files. You can even use Cricut Studio. Using the .svg files you can change the color to whatever you wish.
Just make sure, whatever color you use is dark. You can see that I used a medium brown on the roof, here, and it barely shows up.
Now the paper is the key! So, before you hit the print button, in your inkjet printer place the backing paper that your stickers came on. That's right, use the waxy paper that comes on the back of the paper that your labels, and stickers came on.
Once it comes out of the inkjet, it will look like this. (Be careful not to smear it like I did on the right side.) Carefully, cut each image out leaving ample room around it. Turn it over and press onto a wood slice. Burnish, making sure not to move the paper or the slice. Once burnished, lift the paper from the slice.
And that is pretty much it. The smoother the wood slice the clearer the image. Add a little ribbon or a jaunty piece of twine and that's it.
It's a fast and easy way to transfer images fast and easy, that any age group will love.
